Huang, Joyner, Leese Set for NCAA Regionals on Thursday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Graduate Belle Huang, junior Hannah Joyner, and sophomore Emily Leese of Rutgers gymnastics are set for the 2022 NCAA Regionals The Scarlet Knights will compete on Thursday, March 31 at the Raleigh Regional hosted by NC State.
Huang will start the day for the trio, competing on beam and floor during Session I at 1 p.m. ET. Joyner, who qualified in the all-around, and Leese, who qualified on vault, will join Session II at 7 p.m. ET. Both sessions will be streamed live on ESPN+ and will be accompanied by live results. With Huang, Joyner, and Leese each earning individual bids, it marks the first time since 2018 that three Scarlet Knights have qualified for NCAAs in a single season.
A four-time NCAA qualifier, Huang will compete on beam and floor. The captain ranks No. 30 in the nation on floor with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.920 this season. The 2022 First Team All-Big Ten selection also owns an NQS of 9.875 on beam.
This year, Huang reset her career high on floor with a 9.975, the second-highest mark in the event in program history. She has eclipsed a 9.9 or higher eight times on floor this season and 14 times in her career. On beam, she reached a season best of 9.900 twice, eclipsing the score seven times while "On the Banks" with a career high of 9.925.
The Gaithersburg, Maryland, native has qualified for Regionals in the all-around two times (2018, 2021) and on floor twice (2019, 2022).
Joyner qualified for her second straight NCAA Regionals, earning her first bid in the all-around in 2021. The captain ranks No. 34 nationally in the all-around (39.320 NQS), No. 36 on beam (9.905 NQS) and No. 44 on floor (9.910 NQS).
The 2022 First Team All-Big Ten selection matched her school record on beam with a 9.950 this year, reaching 9.9 or higher in the event five times during the 2022 slate. She has posted a program-high 19 total 9.9s on beam in her career.
The Waldorf, Maryland, native recorded a career-best 9.950 on floor this season as well, having reached 9.9 or higher in the event five times in 2022 and six times in her career. She has also posted season highs of 39.375 in the all-around, 9.850 on vault, and 9.825 on bars.
Last season, Joyner became the third gymnast in Rutgers history to advance to NCAA Nationals and the first to do so on beam.
Leese secured the first NCAA Regionals appearance of her career, qualifying with an NQS of 9.855 on vault. This season, she established a new career high of 9.900 in the event. It stands as the second-highest individual event score in program history, just shy of the school record of 9.925. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania, native became the eighth Scarlet Knight to post a 9.9 on vault in their career "On the Banks".
Overall this season, Leese has recorded a score of 9.850 or higher seven times, leading the squad in the event. The sophomore has contributed to five Top 10 team vault scores in 2022, including the new program team record of 49.275 set on February 4.
