PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer Head Coach Mike O'Neill announced the elevation of Ryan Nigro to Volunteer Assistant Coach. Nigro is in his second season on the coaching staff, serving as Volunteer Director of Player Development since 2020-21.
"Ryan is a young, talented, ambitious coach, who is eager to learn and soak in all the knowledge he can," said O'Neill. "He is an extremely hard worker and has a great understanding of the game. He has done a fantastic job with us and we are thrilled that he will now be able to jump on the field and help educate our student-athletes."
"It means so much to be trusted to work with such high-quality players and such amazing people," said Nigro. "I've learned so much already from my two seasons On the Banks and I'm looking forward to continuing to help develop the next generation of players on and off the field."
In 2021, Nigro and the coaching staff led Rutgers to its first Big Ten Conference title for the program and school, posting an undefeated record of 10-0 in league action. For his work in the classroom, he earned recognition on the ASUN Academic Honor Roll. The midfielder went on to cap his career at Monmouth University for the 2019 and 2020 seasons, where saw action in 14 games with several starts for the Hawks. Nigro was named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll and MAAC All-Academic Team.
Prior to college, Nigro attended high school at the Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, New Jersey.
