
Connor Kirst Wins Silver Medal at The World Games

RU product scores 15 goals to lead Team USA in Silver Medal effort at World Games
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Rutgers men's lacrosse alumn Connor Kirst earned a silver medal as a member of Team USA at the 2022 World Games. Kirst excelled throughout the tournament, scoring in all five of his games with 15 total goals in leading USA to a 4-1 record.
Kirst had 15 goals and 15 points, both of which led Team USA. Among all teams in the event, his 15 goals ranked fourth overall.
In group play, Kirst paced USA with 12 goals in leading the team with a 3-0 record. He posted five goals in a win over Germany and six goals in a win over Australia, also tallying in the victory over Great Britain. In the semifinals, Kirst had two goals to lead Team USA to a hard-fought victory over Japan, guaranteeing a medal with a place in the championship game. In the event's title game against Team Canada, Kirst added another goal against Canada in the lone loss for the Red, White and Blue in the event.

Kirst spent the 2021 season at Rutgers, leading the Scarlet Knights to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals as he was second on the team with 37 goals and 53 points and third on the team with 16 assists. He was a Third Team All-American, First Team All-Big Ten, Scholar All-American and Werblin Award winner.
Kirst was a First Round draft pick of the PLL's Whipsnakes, for whom the Bernardsville, N.J. native has 10 points in 13 career games. He has also played in the NLL with the Georgia Swarm and was recently selected by the Vegas Desert Dogs in the Expansion Draft.
The competition used the new high-intensity Sixes discipline developed by World Lacrosse for events such as The World Games. Sixes is a fast-paced version of the sport played on a smaller field (70 x 36 meters), with fewer players (6-v-6), a condensed game length (four 8-minute quarters) and a 30-second shot clock.The Sixes discipline was formally announced in May 2021 by World Lacrosse.
