PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers head women's basketball coach Coquese Washington has announced the hiring of Kara Wilson as the program's director of scouting and analytics.
Wilson arrives "On the Banks" following a playing career at the NCAA Division I and Division II levels, and a stint as an assistant coach at Earlham College in 2021-22.
"Kara will bring a fresh energy to our program as our director of scouting and analytics," Washington said. "Her playing experience combined with her knowledge and passion for statistical analysis will elevate our game preparation for each and every opponent."
"Joining Coquese and this staff is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Wilson said. "I remember watching Coquese coach back when I was in middle school. Getting an opportunity to learn from her and her staff is a dream come true. I'm looking forward to bringing fun to the team and being a part of such a welcoming Rutgers family."
Wilson played at Division II Wayne State University in Michigan during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, where the guard tallied 148 points and 98 rebounds over 49 games in two seasons with the Warriors. During her senior campaign, Wilson was named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
Prior to joining Wayne State women's basketball, Wilson played two seasons for current Rutgers assistant coach Tasha Pointer at Division I Illinois-Chicago, where Wilson saw the floor in 35 games over two seasons and scored 63 total points. She also served as a representative on the Horizon League Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during the 2018-19 academic year.
Wilson is a May 2021 graduate of Wayne State with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with an emphasis in global supply chain management. A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a graduate of Huron High School, Wilson has worked with Ann Arbor Rec & Ed, a program of the Ann Arbor Public Schools system, since 2015.
Away from basketball, Wilson has become an entrepreneur with her own firm: Sneaker Expressions, LLC, a custom shoe design business she has operated since 2018.
