What to Know
- With an untraditional start at 141 pounds, No. 12 Sammy Alvarez opened the night against Midlands placewinner Josh Mason. Both wrestled scoreless periods in the first in second, as Alvarez' riding time proved to be the difference for the 1-0 win.
- White landed the first takedown of the night, driving Cade Balestrini into the mat for a four-point tilt and a 6-0 lead after the first period. White would collect more than four minutes of riding time and add two additional takedowns for the 11-0 major decision.
- Clark followed against Christian Fritz, jumping out to an 8-0 lead before catching Fritz on his back for the first-period fall. The pin – Clark's first of the season – put RU out in front, 13-0, through its first three bouts.
- Kanniard made his 2022-23 dual debut against Trenton Harder and collected a takedown in the first period for a 2-0 lead after one. Kanniard added a reversal in the second period and seven points in the third for the 11-1 major.
- Turley and Soldano were dominant in their following bouts. Turley picked up his first tech fall of the season with an 18-1 win in the third period over Anthony DeRosa, adding tilts in all three periods. Soldano also caught Bruno Stolfi on his back in his bout at 184 pounds, muscling out an 18-5 major to give RU a 26-0 lead through six bouts.
- Billy Janzer (197) collected four takedowns en route to a 9-2 decision over Bronson Garber, while O'Donnell pinned his opponent in the first period in his second dual appearance of the season.
- Peterson was strong in his matchup with Bronson Garber, scoring eight points in the first period en route to his major decision. Britton got the nod at 133 pounds and caught Cole Rhone on his back for Rutgers' third pin of the night, putting an exclamation point on the 45-0 road win.
