EAST LANSING, Mich. – 14-0 overall. 5-0 in the Big Ten. 10-0 on the road. The record for No. 4 Rutgers field hockey just keeps getting better as the undefeated season continues for another week as the Scarlet Knights went on the road and brought back two Big Ten wins.
Completing a weekend that started with a penalty shootout win at No. 9 Ohio State, Rutgers followed that up with a 3-1 win at Michigan State on Sunday. The Scarlet Knights were led by two goals from
Bridy Molyneaux, with
Guillermina Causarano adding her team-leading 11
th goal of the season.
Carly Snarski and
Iris Langejans had an assist and
Sophia Howard had four saves.
Puck Winter also had a defensive saves. RU outshot MSU 14-10 on the day.
The Scarlet Knights controlled the action from the outset. RU got on the board first early on, with
Bridy Molyneaux scoring just under five minutes into the game. She received a long pass into the circle and stickhandled around and beat the goalkeeper for the early tally. In the opening quarter, RU had the advantage in shots (6-1) and corners (4-1).
The next tally came in the second quarter. RU sent a great cross into the box, and
Guillermina Causarano smashed it in for a 2-0 lead. RU took the two-goal advantage into halftime with a 10-2 advantage in shots.
In the third quarter, Michigan State earned a penalty stroke. The Spartans converted the attempt, cutting the RU lead to 2-1. The Scarlet Knights added an insurance tally in the fourth quarter. On a penalty corner, the ball initially left the circle, but RU carried the ball back in and scored it, with
Bridy Molyneaux putting in her second goal of the day.
The Spartans pushed back in the second half, with an 8-4 shots advantage and a 6-2 margin in corners after halftime. But other than the penalty stroke, RU's defense held strong and locked up the victory.
Rutgers and No. 1 Northwestern are now tied at the top of the Big Ten standings with a 5-0 conference record. The two teams are set to play next Sunday, October 22, an 11 a.m. game in Piscataway. The game, which is Letterwinners Day, follows a home game Friday against Indiana on Big Ten Network that will also be the program's Senior Day. Rutgers will honor seven seniors in a postgame ceremony Friday.

- 14 wins marked just the second time reaching 14 wins under Civico (previously: 2021) and just the sixth time in program history reaching 14 wins.
- Rutgers previously won 14 games in a season three times (1986, 1997, 2008). Only twice has RU won more than 14 games (1984: 15 and 2021: 19)
- RU improves to 11-8-1 all-time against MSU and have won eight straight against the Spartans.
- Since the spring 2021 season, RU is 19-10 in Big Ten Conference regular season conference games, and 26-14 overall against Big Ten teams (including conference tournament games and games not counting towards the conference standings in the spring '21.
- In Rutgers' last 24 games against Big Ten teams, RU is 17-8 with 11 ranked wins.
- Bridy Molyneaux had her first multi-goal game of the season, now up to four goals on the year and 17 goals for her four-year career.
- Guillermina Causarano's goal gave her 28 points on the season, 10th on RU's single-season list.
