Bodmer makes two saves in her sixth solo shutout of the season

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Rutgers women's soccer (6-5-3, 2-3-1) defeated Maryland (3-6-5, 0-5-1) by a 1-0 score on Saturday evening at Ludwig Field following Kylie Daigle's successful penalty conversion in the 85th minute.

SCORING SUMMARY

Rutgers maintained possession deep in Maryland territory looking to break the stalemate in the 85th minute when Daigle received the ball and was tripped up near the corner of the box. Daigle stepped up to the spot and buried her first goal of the season.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED

Ashley Baran nearly broke the deadlock in the 84th minute, hitting a volley from close range that forced a diving save by the Maryland keeper. It was the second time Baran forced save following her early attempt in the third minute of the contest.
Allison Lynch had a dangerous attempt stopped off a corner kick in the 22nd minute.
In the 31st minute, Rutgers rattled off a series of shots by Sara Brocious and Riley Tiernan that were blocked, then the follow-up attempt by Allison Lowrey was saved off the line by a Terp defender with the keeper off the line.
Maryland's first shot on goal in the match came in the 45th minute seconds before halftime, a routine save for Olivia Bodmer.

Rutgers outshot Maryland, 19-5, overall and 6-2 in shots on target.
Ashley Baran and Allison Lowrey each took two shots on goal, while Allison Lynch and Daigle took the other two.
The Rutgers defense allowed just two shots on goal, both of which were saved by Olivia Bodmer in her sixth solo shutout of the season.
Allison Lynch, Kassidy Banks, Emily Mason, Sam Kroeger, and Riley Tiernan all played the full 90 in the Big Ten battle.

Rutgers breaks the series tie with an all-time record of 8-7-2 against Maryland, including a 4-4-1 record for Rutgers in College Park. Since both squads joined the Big Ten in 2014, RU has a 7-2-1 edge in the series – winning 1-0 contests in consecutive years in 2022 and 2023.
