
Tennis Earns Wins Over Seton Hall and LIU in Friday Doubleheader

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — The Rutgers tennis team (6-1) earned two wins in its doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 10 with a 6-1 victory over Seton Hall (2-3) and a 4-0 sweep of LIU (3-2).
The Scarlet Knights won the doubles point in both matches in addition to eight singles wins.
"I am very proud of the physical and mental effort that this group gave," said head coach Hilary Ritchie. "What I love about these types of wins are all eight players were involved and everyone was competing hard and supporting one another. I think it puts us in a really good position leading up to our match on Sunday but also the following week."

Doubles
Rutgers dominated in doubles, earning wins on the first two courts to clinch the point.
Tara Chilton and Mai Nguyen picked up a 6-1 win in the first spot before the pair of Arina Valitova and Jackeline Lopez secured their sixth doubles win, 6-1, of the season to clinch the first point of the day.
Singles
The Scarlet Knights followed up with strong play in singles, winning five of six matches.
Chloe Brown quickly got the team out to a 2-0 lead with straight set victory at the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-1. Chilton gave RU three points with another solid win (6-2, 6-3) and Daira Cardenas clinch the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win on the final court.
Nguyen (6-2, 6-4) and Jackeline Lopez (6-3, 6-1) both also earned wins at the No. 3 and No. 6 spots, respectively, to secure the 6-1 match win for Rutgers.

Rutgers dominated in doubles once again, securing the point with wins on the first two courts.
The duos of Chilton/Nguyen (6-2) and Valitova/Lopez (6-1) continued their strong play in the first two lineup spots, improving to 2-0 on the day with victories.
Singles
The Scarlet Knights played to clinch in singles, collecting three victories to secure the second match win of the day.
Chilton on the second court (6-0, 6-3) and Brown on the sixth (6-2, 6-3) started things off with a pair of straight sets wins to put the team ahead, 3-0. Valitova secured the match win for RU with a win on the fifth court (6-3, 6-3) to stay a perfect 5-0 on the spring season.
