Kinkela Moves Into Top 10 In Career Blocks In Loss At No. 11 Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. – Rutgers volleyball nearly pulled off the first set victory, but ultimately it was the No. 11 Oregon Ducks sweeping the Scarlet Knights on Sunday afternoon at Matthew Knight Arena.
RU, wrapping up its inaugural Big Ten West Coast trip, was topped 26-24, 25-18, 25-14.

- Redshirt junior Alissa Kinkela led RU with nine kills and heads into next week needing four more kills to join the 900 career kill club.
- Kinkela, along with freshman Natalie Robinson and sophomore Zora Hardison, led the defense with a trio of blocks each. With her 10 stops at the net on the weekend, Kinkela moved into the Rutgers rally-era top 10 in career blocks.
- Junior Aly Borellis captured 15 helpers to go along with six digs.
- Rutgers served up six aces, including a trio from junior Lexi Visintine.
- Sophomore Kenzie Dyrstad posted seven digs.

- SET 1 (24-26) | Rutgers nearly pulled off the first set, but a late Oregon run dashed the Scarlet Knights shot at taking the lead after the first set. The Ducks went out to an 8-3 lead but Natalie Robinson helped Rutgers out on two on the next three points to trail 8-6. The freshman Scarlet Knight captured a kill and teamed with Alissa Kinkela at the net as RU pulled within two. The Ducks went back up by five, ahead 13-7, but a big run ensued for the Scarlet Knights. RU proceeded on a 15- 4 run to establish a 21-17 edge. An ace from Georgia Lee put Rutgers ahead 16-15 and another ace, this time from Kenzie Dyrstad, gave the Scarlet Knights a 23-19 edge. Oregon, however, came back with seven of the next eight to take the frame. Kinkela and and Robinson both tallied three kills and three blocks.

- SET 2 (18-25) | Oregon went out to a 12-6 advantage. RU managed to half its deficit with four of the next five, including a kill from Avery Jesewitz and solo block by Zora Hardison. The Ducks captured the next five points extending its advantage to 18-10. A late run would see Rutgers half its deficit once again. RU outscored Oregon 8-4, including a kill and ace from Kinkela, to trail 22-18 before the Ducks closed out with the win. Jesewitz ended the set with four kills.

- SET 3 (14-25) | The Ducks established another early lead which Rutgers once again cut into. RU captured four unanswered led by back-to-back-to-back aces from Lexi Visintine to trail by one at 10-9. Oregon, however, countered closing with a 15-5 run to close out the match. Kinkela added three more kills in the set.

- The Rutgers volleyball team returns East and is back to Jersey Mike's Arena for a four-game homestand.
- The Scarlet Knights will host Indiana on Friday, Nov. 1 and No. 10 Purdue on Saturday Nov. 2. Both games serve up action beginning at 7 p.m.
