Women's Soccer Falls in B1G Tournament Championship to No. 9 UCLA

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The fifth-seeded Scarlet Knights (11-4-5) fell to second-seeded and No. 9 ranked UCLA (16-3-3) in the Big Ten Tournament championship at CITYPARK by a 5-0 score.
 
The Bruins opened scoring 6:28 into the match, then added to their lead in the 41st and 45th to take the 3-0 lead into halftime. UCLA added on in the 69th and 83rd to set the final score.
 
UCLA came into the match with a nation-leading 15 shutouts and the NCAA's best goals-against average at 0.33. The Bruins allowed four shots on goal or less against all 13 Big Ten opponents this season, and in 18 of their 19 matches overall.
 
Shaela Bradley and Ashley Baran took Rutgers' shots on target in the championship.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Bodmer was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team.

Rutgers' season will continue in the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Selection Show is set for Mon., Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. on ncaa.com.
 
NOTES
  • Rutgers played in its fourth Big Ten Tournament Championship since joining the conference in 2014.
  • Redshirt freshman Reilly McGlinn made her first collegiate start in the conference tournament championship.
  • Senior forward Riley Tiernan was not available for the match due to a red card suspension from the semifinal. She served the first of a two-match suspension.
  • The Scarlet Knights are 0-3 against UCLA all-time following a 2-0 loss at home in 1997 and a 1-0 setback in California in 2011.
