PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's golf program is thrilled to add three players to the 2025 recruiting class. 

The Scarlet Knights welcome Daniel Regal (Madrid Spain), Harry Cohen (Wyckoff, New Jersey) and Lucas Politano (Brandon, Vermont) to the incoming freshmen class. 

"It's an exciting class for us at Rutgers men's golf," head coach Rob Shutte said. "We were able to keep a great player in New Jersey in Harry Cohen, we were able to recruit a great player locally in New England (Lucas Politano) which has been a great spot for us through the years, but also sprinkle in an international player (Daniel Regal) who is incredibly talented. We are super excited about the class. We got three really smart student-athletes who are looking forward to taking advantage of the Rutgers degree, who are also really bought into what we are continuing to do on the golf course here."



Daniel Regal is a golfer out of Madrid, Spain who graduated high school last year and is joining the Scarlet Knights next fall.

Shutte is excited about the work ethic he brings to RU and the opportunities ahead for Regal. 

"Daniel is a really unique student-athlete," Shutte said. "He's super smart and his personality and work ethic fit into our culture really well. He's incredibly respectful and is going to take advantage of all the opportunities that Rutgers has to offer off the golf course. He's a golfer and young man who gets it."

Harry Cohen is a local golfer out of Wyckoff, New Jersey who is excited to continue his golfing career in the Garden State.

Shutte is excited to keep the local product home and is very impressed that Cohen is a golfer who he describes as "mature beyond his years".

"Harry is one of the most-disciplined student-athletes that we have had here in a while." Shutte said. "As a high school he is extremely disciplined. He gets up really earl and gets in the gym. He's a smart golfer who's extremely motivated and mature for his age. Harry is going to be able to hit the ground running when he steps foot here on campus."

Lucas Politano is a high school golfer from Brandon, Vermont who comes from a golfing family who has family ties to Rutgers.

Shutte is excited to welcome Politano to RU and believes he has what it takes to succeed at the next level."

"Lucas keeps getting bigger and bigger every time I see him," Shutte said. "Lucas is a golfer that has been on our radar for a long time who had a great summer playing in many of the big events throughout the country. Lucas has risen his stature in this class and he has really bought into what we are doing here at Rutgers."

• 2 AJGA Top 5s and 2 AJGA Top 10s
• New England Junior PGA Champion
• Vermont Amateur Champion
• 3x Vermont High School Team and Individual State Champion
• Competed in the prestigious Junior PGA Championship, US Junior Amateur and US Amateur.
