Urkiel Breaks 400 IM Record; Prasanto Crowned 3M Champion

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Altogether, the Rutgers women's swimming & diving team collected nine top 10 program times/scores, including a new school record in the 400 IM, among the split-squad at the RU Diving Invitational and Minnesota Invitational on Friday.
 
FROM THE POOL DECK
  • Graduate student Molly Urkiel, who appeared in two A finals at the Minnesota Invite with a pair of NCAA B cuts, set a new Rutgers record in the 400 IM. Additionally, she posted Rutgers' fifth-fastest 100 breast time.
  • Graduate student Shannon Meadway recorded the fifth-fastest time at RU in A finals appearance in the 400 IM.
  • Also swimming to program top-10 times at the Minnesota Invite were sophomore Sofia Bartoloni in the 100 breast and juniors Cameron Kuriger and Ellie Schinsky in the 100 fly.
  • On the boards back home, all six Scarlet Knight entries on 3M swept the top six spots. Senior Holly Prasanto, freshman Katerina Hoffman and freshman Bailee Sturgill went 1-2-3 with top-10 program scores as Prasanto collected the crown.
MINNESOTA INVITE RECAP
  • During 400 IM prelims, a pair of Scarlet Knights qualified for A finals with Molly Urkiel setting a new Rutgers record and Shannon Meadway moving into the top 10 at RU. Urkiel was the runner-up in prelims, producing a new Rutgers record and NCAA B cut of 4:13.79, breaking the former mark of 4:13.85 set by Morgan Pfaff in 2014. Urkiel wasn't the only Scarlet Knight in the record book during prelims. Meadway also made her way to the finals with the 10th-best time in program history in 4:19.66.
  • The Scarlet Knight duo only improved their times in the finals. Urkiel once again set a new Rutgers benchmark taking third in the A final in 4:13.49. Meadway moved up to fifth all-time at Rutgers and finished eighth in 4:17.50.
  • Urkiel's previous best was 4:16.73 recorded at last year's Big Ten Championships marking a 3.24 time drop. Meadway, meanwhile, topped her previous best of 4:19.89 at the 2023 Big Ten Championships, dropping 2.39 off her time.
 
  • Urkiel collected another top time and NCAA B cut in her 100 breast appearance. Taking fourth, she swam to the fifth-fastest time at RU hitting the wall in 1:01.07.
  • The Scarlet Knight improved on her previous time of 1:01.72 captured at last year's Big Ten Championships.
  • Sofia Bartoloni joined Urkiel with a top 10 time as the runner-up in the B final. She clocked in at 1:02.02 to move up one spot into ninth at RU in the event after swimming 1:02.29 in the annual Battle For The Cannon Trophy with Princeton.
 
  • The Scarlet Knights garnered two top 10 times in the 100 fly B final. Cameron Kuriger captured the eighth fastest time on record at RU in 54.01 for fourth and Ellie Schinsky followed in fifth in 54.19 for the ninth fastest time "On The Banks"
  • Schinksy topped her previous best of 54.83 set at last year's Big Ten Championship.
 
RU DIVING INVITE RECAP
  • Rutgers diving made it a clean sweep of the top six spots on 3M.
  • Holly Prasanto was crowned the 3M champion behind the third-highest score in RU history with a 353.55.
  • Katerina Hoffman was the runner-up with a 333.65 for the sixth-highest score on record.
  • During prelims, Bailee Sturgill was atop the leaderboard with a 330.65, marking the seventh-highest score in program history, and finished finals in third with a score of 319.90.
