PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer head coach
Mike O'Neill has announced that alumna
Allison Lynch will remain with the program as the Director of Player of Development, beginning with the spring season and for the trip to England and Scotland during spring break.
A two-year captain, Lynch played in 102 matches for Rutgers while totaling a program-record 8,597 minutes on defense during her five seasons. The Bridgewater, New Jersey native scored three goals and tallied six assists during her collegiate career, including a career-best three during her final season in 2023.
"I am beyond excited to join the staff here at Rutgers," Lynch said. "I've always felt that Rutgers was a second home and that the people here are family. I am thrilled for the opportunity to help the program continue to grow in new ways. Forever Rutgers, Forever Family."
"We are so thrilled to add Allison to our coaching staff," O'Neill said. "To say she exemplifies what it means to be a Scarlet Knight would be an understatement. I am looking forward to seeing her work ethic, commitment, and leadership as a player translate into this next step in her career as our director of player development. She has given so much to the women's soccer program in the past five years and we know, without a doubt, that will continue in this chapter of her journey."
In Rutgers' NCAA Tournament game in 2023, Lynch played her 8,569th minute of college soccer, the new record for a Rutgers field player, passing Gabby Provenzano. With 102 matches played, she is second all-time at Rutgers behind Provenzano and Amirah Ali's 103. Lynch finished her playing career competing in 100 percent of Rutgers' matches since the beginning of her first year in 2019, totaling 8,597 minutes.
She is one of four players in program history to play in at least 100 matches. Her leadership and presence in the back of the field led to Rutgers' stingy 0.72 goals-against average during her five years on the pitch, in which Lynch played in 91 percent of the available minutes over that span.
