PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Michael Cetta (149) has earned an at-large selection to the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships, held March 21-23 in Kansas City, Missouri. No. 14 Rutgers wrestling will now have eight starters heading to the national tournament, its most qualifiers since it brought all 10 weights to the 2016 NCAA Wrestling Championships in New York City.
Thrust into the starting lineup back in December, Cetta finished his first season as a starter with 14 wins, which included four victories in Big Ten Conference dual action. The Wyckoff, New Jersey, native picked up his biggest win of the season on February 4, when he defeated then-No. 9 Dylan D'Emilio in sudden victory, 12-9. Cetta also defeated three-time NCAA qualifier Quinn Kinner (Rider) during his impressive campaign.
The Scarlet Knights will send seven or more wrestlers to nationals for the third consecutive season under head coach
Scott Goodale. RU wrapped up an impressive showing over the weekend at the 2024 Big Ten Wrestling Championships in College Park, Maryland, where Dylan Shavwer (133) earned the program's first individual conference title in five years, while seven student-athletes earned top-eight finishes and automatic bids to the national tournament.
