Field Hockey Assistant Coach Ajai Dhadwal to Compete in Pan American Cup

Dhadwal is a member of the Team USA men’s squad

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers field hockey assistant coach Ajai Dhadwal will continue his prestigious playing career at the international level as he will compete with Team USA at the Indoor Pan American Cup. The event will be played on March 19-22 in Calgary, Canada.

The Indoor Pan American Cup is an international indoor field hockey competition for men and women organized by the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF). The tournament started in the year 2002 for both the men's and women's competition.

The last time this event was held, Team USA finished in second place in the event held in 2021 in Spring City, Pa. Dhadwal is one of two players on that 2021 IPAC roster to return for the 2024 event, and also participated in both the 2014 Indoor Pan Am, and was the team captain for the Outdoor Pan Am Cup in 2017, leading Team USA to a bronze medal. Dhadwal has been a member of the National Team since 2009. In his career, he has earned eight medals in international competition.

This year, Team USA will start competition against Guyana on March 19 at 7 PM, and then continue round-robin play with matches against Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, and Canada. The finals will take place on Friday, March 22. From the men's IPAC, the top-two finishing teams advanced to the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup.

Dhadwal initially joined the Rutgers field hockey coaching staff in 2017, shortly after competing in that year's Outdoor Pan Am Cup. He was on the coaching staff through the team's Big Ten Tournament Championship in the fall of 2021. He recently rejoined the coaching staff this spring.
