Morgan Smith Belts Sixth-Consecutive Home Run As Softball's Win Streak Is Halted At Five

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers softball's five-game win streak came to an end as Nebraska took a 13-5 victory in six innings to even the series on a windy Saturday afternoon out at the RU Softball Complex.

The loss dropped the Scarlet Knights to 26-17 overall and 8-5 in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers upped their record to 24-16 overall and 7-3 in league action.

Nebraska took an early 3-0 lead in the first and extended out to an 11-1 advantage heading into the bottom of the fifth. Rutgers avoided the run-rule in the fifth with four runs including a three-run home run from Morgan Smith marking the senior Scarlet Knights' sixth-straight game with a dinger and 19th overall of the season to continue to lead the Big Ten and rank third nationally.

The Cornhuskers, however, notched a two-run triple in the sixth and limited RU to one hit in their final at-bat for the win and tie the series at 1-1.
