PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Tuesday, August 27) – The Rutgers men's basketball broadcast is moving to Audacy's WFAN (WFAN-FM-AM), the most-listened-to sports radio station in the country, for the highly-anticipated upcoming 2024-25 season.
WFAN will become the home for Rutgers football and men's basketball with both sports housed together on the same station. Rutgers men's basketball was previously heard on WCBS 880 (WCBS-AM).
WFAN will continue to serve as the flagship station of Rutgers football. The change from WCBS 880 to WFAN 660 moves Rutgers basketball from an all-news platform to an all-sports platform.
"Audacy and Rutgers have developed a strong partnership which now goes to a whole new level with basketball joining football on the Tri-State's premiere sports platform, WFAN," said Chris Oliviero, Market President, Audacy New York. "A strong recruiting class has the fan base excited for this basketball season as WFAN's own Jerry Recco chronicles the journey from start to finish."
"We are thrilled that WFAN 660 is the new home of Rutgers men's basketball," head coach Steve Pikiell said. "There is no better sports radio station in the country, and we're excited to partner ahead of one of the most exciting seasons in Rutgers basketball history."
The voice of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Jerry Recco is entering his ninth season on the call. and now his play-by-play will be heard on his home station, WFAN, which airs "Boomer and Gio" each morning where Recco provides sports updates. Recco has been at the station since 1997. He also serves as a podcast host for the Steve Pikiell Podcast throughout the season.
Rutgers games this season will air at 660 AM or can be found in select circumstances on 101.9 FM.
The 2024–25 Scarlet Knights, under ninth-year head coach Steve Pikiell, boast a home-court advantage at Jersey Mike's Arena in which they've sold out 64 straight home games with the entire home slate for the upcoming season sold out.
