PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The conference has recognized three Scarlet Knights from the men's golf team as golfers to watch for the upcoming season.
On Thursday afternoon, senior captain
Noah Kumar, senior captain
Weston Jones, and sophomore
Derek Gutierrez were named to the 2024-25 Big Ten Men's Golfers to Watch List.
The trio of Scarlet Knights join a list of 46 golfers across the conference to be given preseason accolades.
Kumar just finished second overall in the Scarlet Knights's first event (Gopher Invitational) this season and returns to RU for his senior season after taking one year off from golf.
Jones has started every event for RU since his freshman season totaling 49 rounds. Jones set the program record for the lowest scoring average by a freshman (73.24) and was named a 2023 Spring Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
Gutierrez became the youngest amateur since 2014 to win the 104th Open Championship at Plainfield Country Club on July 25 and was the number 1 ranked high school golfer in New Jersey before signing with RU last season.
