PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Big Ten and Rutgers women's basketball have announced 2024-25 conference schedule presented by Prudential.
This will be the first year with an 18-team conference field and the additions of USC, UCLA, Washington and Oregon. In addition to the team's 11 nonconference contests, the team will play a full schedule of 29 games including 19 home games at Jersey Mike's Arena.
RU will kick off 2024-25 league play at Wisconsin on Dec. 8. The team will play three more nonconference games versus FDU (Dec. 11), Wagner (Dec. 15) and Lafayette (Dec. 21) before diving back into Big Ten action for the home opener against Ohio State on Sunday, Dec. 29.
From there, the team will continue onto a full slate of contests, starting at Maryland on Jan. 2.
For the first time as part of the conference, Rutgers will welcome 2024 Pac-12 Tournament Champion, USC, to Jersey Mike's Arena on Sunday, Jan. 5. This will mark the two programs' eighth meeting and first since 2009.
Then the team will trade home and away matches, going to Minnesota (Jan. 8), coming home to face Nebraska (Jan. 12), flying back out to Michigan State (Jan. 15) and then home once more to go up against Michigan (Jan. 18).
RU will welcome UCLA for its first time as part of the league on Thursday, Jan. 23. It will be the seventh meeting in program history and the first in 26 years, since 1999. The Scarlet Knights are 3-0 at home against the Bruins.
Rutgers will then take the short bus ride to Penn State, the only team they will see twice during the 2024-25 campaign, on Jan. 26. The squad will come back home to host Illinois on Thursday, Jan. 30 to round out the month of January.
Kicking off February, the Scarlet Knights will alternate sites once again, hitting the road to see Indiana (Feb. 6), coming back to welcome Purdue (Feb. 9), going out Iowa (Feb. 13) and finally journeying home to Piscataway to face Northwestern on Monday, Feb. 17.
The team will then embark on a two-game road trip to the west coast to meet the other newest additions to the conference in Washington on Feb. 20 and Oregon on Feb. 23.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Scarlet Knights and the Huskies but the fourth against the Ducks. Rutgers and Oregon have not met since 1998 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament when RU came out with the victory to advance.
Finally, RU will wrap up the regular season at home versus Penn State on Sunday, March 2.
The 2025 TIAA Big Ten Tournament will return to Indianapolis, Indiana from March 5-9. The tournament will be played at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse and will be the first to feature a 15-team field following the additions of Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington over the summer.
