Austin Riggs all earned invitations and are set to represent Rutgers football at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. The five selections are the most for the Scarlet Knights since sending a school-record six players in
2013.
The annual event showcasing the top draft prospects will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and broadcast on NFL Network. The circuit includes interviews with teams, media sessions and on-field workouts from Feb. 27 to March 2.
Recent Scarlet Knights to earn invites to Indianapolis include Max Melton (2024), Adam Korsak (2023), Bo Melton (2022), Isiah Pacheco (2022), Blessuan Austin (2019), Saquan Hampton (2019), Kemoko Turay (2018), Leonte Carroo (2016), Steve Longa (2016), Michael Burton (2015) and Tyler Kroft (2015). Max Melton was selected in the second round, pick No. 43, of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, as head coach
Greg Schiano has sent 104 RU players to the NFL during his tenure.
ROBERT LONGERBEAM
Longerbeam ranked second the Big Ten with 11 pass breakups this past season, adding interceptions late in the game to seal the win at Virginia Tech and in the Rate Bowl versus Kansas State. The Alexandria, Virginia, native was third among active FBS players with 42 career passes defended (37 breakups, five interceptions) in 53 games (31 starts). He collected 154 career tackles and added five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Longerbeam served as a team captain, twice collected honorable mention All-Big Ten status and gained Academic All-Big Ten honors in each of the past four years.
KYLE MONANGAI
A First Team All-Big Ten honoree and
Phil Steele All-America selection, Monangai posted six games with over 100 rushing yards in 11 outings on the way to 1,279 yards in 2024, second in the league and the most by a Rutgers player in a season since joining the Big Ten. The Roseland, New Jersey, native had a conference-high 256 carries during the regular season, which were 16 more than any other player despite missing a game. He recorded a touchdown in nine different games in posting 13 rushing and one receiving score. Adding 75 receiving yards, the running back also was second in the Big Ten with 123.1 all-purpose yards per game. For his career, Monangai finishes second in the program record book with 3,221 rushing yards, third with 14 100-yard rushing games and seventh with 27 rushing touchdowns in 52 games played (35 starts). The team captain had zero fumbles (669 carries, 38 receptions) and owns two of the top six rushing seasons by yards in Rutgers history.
HOLLIN PIERCE
Pierce, a
Phil Steele honorable mention All-America pick, started all 13 games at left tackle this season and finished his career making 50 consecutive starts on the offensive line. The Trenton, New Jersey, native helped the Scarlet Knights to 28.9 points per game, the best mark since 2008, and 4,975 yards of total offense, fourth-most in a season in program history and the best total since 2014. That included 175.3 rushing yards per game to place third in the Big Ten for the program's best placement since joining the league. The unit permitted two or less sacks in 9-of-13 games with none allowed five times. Pierce is rated as the No. 11 tackle nationally by
Pro Football Focus, second in the Big Ten, and was previously a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy as one of the top players who started as a walk-on. He was voted Second Team All-Big Ten by the coaches and media this past season, the first RU offensive lineman to earn a spot on one of the three All-Big Ten teams.
TYREEM POWELL
A team captain, Powell totaled 57 tackles in 10 games this past season. He forced a fumble against Minnesota that sparked a comeback win in the fourth quarter, ending the game with a season-best eight tackles, a mark also reached in the Rate Bowl versus Kansas State. The Vineland, New Jersey, native broke up two passes versus Washington and had a tackle-for-loss on his first play from scrimmage of the season at Virginia Tech. Powell's play earned honorable mention All-Big Ten and semifinalist status for the Comeback Player of the Year Award. For his career, Powell totaled 201 tackles with 11.5 for loss, five sacks, nine pass breakups, two forced fumbles and an interception in 43 games (32 starts).
AUSTIN RIGGS
Riggs handled all long snaps for field goals and punts throughout all 13 games. The unit connected on 15 field goals, including each of the last 13 attempts. That included a 4-for-4 showing in snowy conditions in the win at Michigan State. The Scarlet Knights downed 15 punts inside the 20 with a clean operation in all 50 attempts. Riggs is from Eagle, Idaho, was voted honorable mention All-Big Ten in both the coaches and media votes and will take part in the specialist portion of the NFL Scouting Combine. He played in 53 collegiate games overall.
