
Ron Harper Jr. Signs Two-Way NBA Contract with Detroit Pistons

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Ron Harper Jr. has agreed to a two-way deal with the Detroit Pistons.
The former Rutgers men's basketball star averaged 22.8 points, four rebounds, and 2.5 assists during the regular season for the Boston Celtics G-League squad the Maine Celtics after competing with Boston's team in training camp. Harper Jr. was opening eyes around the NBA following a G-League career-high 32 points against Grand Rapids last week.
Harper Jr. was originally signed by the Toronto Raptors following being undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft. Harper Jr. competed for the Raptors 905 in the G-League last season averaging 17.3 points 5.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists before signing with the Maine Celtics this offseason. Harper appeared in one game for the Toronto Raptors last season and played in nine games for the NBA team during his rookie season.
Harper Jr. was one of the best Scarlet Knight basketball players in school history becoming the university's 11th All-American during the 2021-22 season averaging a team-high 15.8 points and guiding RU to consecutive March Madness berths. Harper Jr. scored over 1,500 points in his career in Piscataway and won the legendary Haggerty Award for being the best player in the metropolitan area during his senior season.
The Franklin Lakes, N.J. native still has two years of two-way eligibility left and will compete for a spot on the Detroit Pistons roster that holds a (17-18) record good for 4th in the NBA's Central Division.
