PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The No. 18-ranked Rutgers men's soccer team (7-2-2, 2-1-1 B1G) will travel to No. 15 Maryland (7-0-3, 3-0-2 B1G) for a top 20 matchup on Tuesday night at 8 p.m.Â
The contest will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Â
Last Time Out   Â
The Scarlet Knights pulled out the 4-2 win over Wisconsin (4-6, 1-4 B1G) on Friday night to remain a perfect 6-0 at home. Â
The contests started out even, with both teams generating chances on offense and taking three shots apiece. But Camron Boumsong struck first for RU with a bicycle kick goal in the 27th minute.
Â
 Â
The Badgers came started the second half strong and found the back of the net in the 52nd minute. The tie only lasted three minutes however, as Andrew Kitch put RU ahead once again off a feed from Joschi Schelb.  Â
Â
Then just under four minutes later Schelb set up another goal for the Scarlet Knights, this time finding Nick Collin's head on a corner kick to give the team a two-goal edge. Â Â
Wisconsin would again fight back with a tally to bring the deficit to one, this time in the 73rd minute. Following a back-and-forth ten-minute period that saw chances for each side, the Scarlet Knights were able to force a crucial turnover deep in the Badger end. Â Â
Â
Dan Karsten was able to jar the ball loose just outside of the Wisconsin penalty area where he was taken down from behind resulting in a red card for the Badgers following a VAR review. Awarded a free kick in a dangerous area, Karsten put the game away for good after finding the back of the net with a left-footed strike that deflected off the Wisconsin wall of defenders.Â

In The RankingsÂ
The Scarlet Knights entered back into the United Soccer Coaches National Poll on Oct. 7 for the first time since 2021, coming in at No. 18. RU is one of five Big Ten schools currently ranked in the poll in addition to No. 13 Michigan, No. 15 Maryland, No. 20 Indiana and No. 22 Washington.Â
Rutgers is also currently No. 16Â in the RPI and tied a third in the conference standing with 10Â points.Â
In the Books Â
Goalkeeper Ciaran Dalton has been a mainstay for Rutgers since he joined the team as a freshman. With his senior season in front of him, Dalton has already cemented himself in the Rutgers men's soccer record book.  Â
The Pearl River, New York native currently ranks fifth all-time with 58 career games in net. He's also tied for sixth all-time with 213 career saves, one away from the top five. Dalton made his 200th career save earlier this campaign against Ohio State (Sept. 26).  Â
