Bethlehem, Pa. – Rutgers cross country resumed the 2025 season following a three-week break to compete in the Paul Short Run on Friday, Oct. 3 on the Goodman Campus course at Lehigh.
Â
"The men and women made great progress in this race from last year," said Associate Head Coach
Nicol Starkes. "On the men's side, we had five runners dip under the 25-minute barrier led by Micah. Kelseigh led the way on the women's side dipping under the 21-minute barrier for the first time. We'll be back at this course in six weeks for the NCAA Regionals so it was good for the squad to see the course and gain confidence from their performance today."
Â
The 51st edition of the Paul Short Run, one of the top races on the East Coast, featured a field of over 300 runners on both the men's and women's side from more than 40 institutions.
Â
Micah Lawson led the way for the Scarlet Knights in the Gold 8K race, finishing with a time of 24:14.8 (71st), followed by
Liam Tilton in 24:25.4 (94th). Adding to the scoring was
Stephen Kyvelos who also finished with a sub-25 minute time in 24:47.6 (141st) and
Maan Patel in 24:54.4 (160th).
Hisham Ettayebi ran a time of 25:00.0 (173rd) to round out the group.
Â
The women's squad was led again by
Kelseigh O'Neil who posted a top-50 finish in the Gold 6K race, running a time of 20:54.4 to finish 43rd.
Carly Nicholson was the next to cross the finish line for the Scarlet Knights with a time of 21:31.9 (139th), followed by
