Wrestling No. 13 in Latest NWCA Coaches Poll

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers wrestling moved up to No. 13 in this week's NWCA Coaches Poll. The program is ranked within the top 20 by Intermat, FloWrestling and The Open Mat, appearing as high as No. 7 nationally (The Open Mat).
Eleven Scarlet Knights are ranked in at least one national poll, with all 10 weights ranked by both Intermat and FloWrestling. RU is one of just six schools nationally with all 10 of its starters ranked by Intermat, which includes No. 3 Iowa, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 5 Nebraska, No. 16 Missouri and No. 17 South Dakota State.
Redshirt freshmen Ayden Smith (125) and Ryan Ford (165) make their career debuts in the rankings. Smith checks in at No. 32 by Intermat and No. 33 by FloWrestling, while Ford is No. 31 by FloWrestling. Classmate Andrew Barbosa (165), who has not competed yet this season, is No. 29 by Intermat.
Rutgers features five wrestlers ranked within the top 12 by at least one publication, including Dylan Shawver (133), Joseph Olivieri (141), Lenny Pinto (174), Shane Cartagena-Walsh (184) and Hunter Catka (HWT). The quintet is a combined 11-2 during the first two weeks of the regular season with nine of those wins coming by bonus.
