LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Rutgers opened its West Coast trip on Friday night, falling to No. 17 USC at the Galen Center.

The Trojans topped the Scarlet Knights 25-13, 25-17, 25-10.

Bolen also had an ace to move her into a three-way tie for eighth on the rally-era season leaders list with 32 on the year. She needs one more to move into a tie for seventh.
  • Sophomore Aspen Maxwell and junior Zora Hardison each had seven kills on the night.
  • Maxwell and Hardison, along with freshman Imani Howell, each had two blocks against the Trojans.
KEY MOMENTS
  • SET 1 (13-25) | The hosts led from the jump, climbing out to a 7-1 lead to start. Zora Hardison had back-to-back points with a solo block and swing down the middle to cut RU's deficit to 9-5. The Trojans, however, responded by outscoring the Scarlet Knights, 8-2, to take a double-digit advantage.  Aspen Maxwell and Lexi Visintine led the attack with three kills each.
  • SET 2 (17-25) | USC opened with another hot start with a 5-1 edge, but Rutgers kept within striking distance early. Imani Howell got a hold of the over pass for RU to trail 9-7, Maxwell sent a rocket to the back right corner for the Scarlet Knights to play down 10-8 and Visintine tooled the block as Rutgers continued to fight behind 11-9. From there, USC grew its advantage using a 9-3 run to go up 20-12 en route to the two-set lead.
  • SET 3 (10-25) | It was the Trojans once again establishing a lead from the start as USC opened on a 7-1 run. RU committed 12 attack errors while USC hit a match-best .400 with only one miscue on 25 swings. Hardison contributed with four kills.
