PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball announced its 2026 schedule on Wednesday. The Scarlet Knights are set for 14 weekend series, including 10 Big Ten series.
RU will open the season in South Carolina with a four-game series against College of Charleston, with the season opener Friday, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. It marks the third trip in the last four seasons to Charleston, with the Scarlet Knights playing Charleston Southern in 2024 and the Swig and Swine Classic at Shipyard Park in 2023. The Cougars are coming off a 37-22 season that saw them finish fourth in CAA and advance to the conference tournament semifinals.
Week two for Rutgers is a drive down I-81 to Blacksburg for a three-game series with Virginia Tech from Feb. 20-22. The old Big East rivals last played a series in 2004, with RU taking two-of-three in Blacksburg. The Hokies went 31-25 a year ago with series wins over No. 16 Louisville and at No. 16 Wake Forest.
The Scarlet Knights then head to Greenville, N.C. for the 23rd annual Keith LeClair Classic, hosted by East Carolina. RU will play ECU on Friday, Feb. 27, Western Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 28 and Troy on Sunday, March 1 in the event.
The home opener is March 3 against Georgetown, with first pitch set for 3 p.m. at Bainton Field. Rutgers then wraps up the nonconference slate with a three-game series against Bryant at Bainton Field from March 6-8. The Bulldogs were 36-19-1 a season ago and won the America East regular season crown with an 18-6 conference mark.
Big Ten play opens at home against Michigan State March 13-15. The Big Ten slate includes series at home against UCLA and on the road against USC as well as the first trip to Illinois since 2018.
