Baseball Loses Game Two at No. 17 USC
May 02 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES – Rutgers baseball dropped game two at No. 17 USC by a score of 11-1 on Saturday afternoon at Dedeaux Field.
The Scarlet Knights (22-25, 9-14) were unable to overcome a home run barrage by the Trojans (36-12, 18-8), who hit six on the day to earn the series victory.
RU had an early lead thanks to a leadoff hit-by-pitch from Jack Sweeney and an RBI double from Chase Krewson.
The lead did not last long, as USC hit a solo homer and RBI double in the second to take the lead. Two more homers and a passed ball made it 6-1 in the third. An RBI single in the fifth and two long balls in the sixth would push the advantage to 10-1. A solo home run in the seventh would end the game in walk-off, run-rule fashion as the Trojans closed out the 11-1 victory.
The series finale between Rutgers and USC is set for 4 p.m. ET on Sunday.
