PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers field hockey had two student-athletes named to the NFHCA's Senior Team, with
Paulina Niklaus and
Puck Winter tabbed for the roster. Members of the team were nominated by their NFHCA member coach and were chosen based on their career accomplishments.
Niklaus and Winter were two of the 38 student-athletes selected. Rutgers was one of just 5 schools with multiple selections.
Rutgers has been represented on the Senior Team in seven of the past eight seasons. The duo joins
Guillermina Causarano (2024),
Iris Langejans (2023), Gianna Glatz (2021), Katie Larmour (2021), Gracey Butsack (2021), Austyn Cuneo (2019) and Linde van Schaik (2018) as recent honorees from the Scarlet Knights. It is the first time since 2021 that RU had multiple selections.
Niklaus was named First Time All-Big Ten for the second consecutive season. Niklaus is a two-time team captain for the Scarlet Knights in her third season 'On the Banks'. Playing both back and midfield this season, she was a starter in all 18 games with five goals and six assists. The Mannheim, Germany native leads the team in assists, is third in points (16) and fourth in goals. In 52 career games and starts, she has 15 goals and 13 assists for 43 points.
Winter was named a First Team All-Big Ten selection in 2025. That capped a RU career where she had previously been named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year (2022) and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year (2023) and is a three-time All-Big Ten and two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection overall. She had 31 career defensive saves, setting the Rutgers all-time record and tying the Big Ten record.
