Emily Nicholls Advances to Second Junior National Camp
Dec 23 | Field Hockey
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Following competition in a three-day training camp held in Charlotte, Rutgers field hockey goalkeeper Emilly Nichols was named to the list of U-21 athletes invited to attend USA Field Hockey's second Junior National Camp.
The second camp will take place January 30 to February 1, 2026, on the campus of the UNC-Charlotte. Nicholls will compete for selection to the U.S. U-21 Women's National Team. Once the U-21 USWNT roster has been named, athletes will compete in subsequent training camps for a spot on a travel squad for one of the several events the team will be participating in this summer, including the Junior Pan American Championships in Chile and the Four Nations Tournament in England.
Nicholls completed an excellent redshirt freshman campaign 'On the Banks' this past season. The goalkeeper from Haddon Heights, N.J. was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team after posting a 1.61 goals-against-average and 78.8% save percentage with 108 saves. The Camden Catholic product was second in Big Ten in 6.0 saves per game and third in Big Ten (sixth nationally) in save percentage and had the most saves in a season for any RU goalkeeper under head coach Meredith Civico. That marked the most stops for a RU goalkeeper since Rosalyn Wentko had 127 in the 2006 season
Nicholls has previously been recognized by USA Field Hockey at the Senior Nexus Championships. She was also on the NFHCA Collegiate Watch List, Big Apple Tournament MVP, was a two-time Big Ten player of the week (once for Defense, once for Freshman), and was named to the Academic All-Big Ten squad.
