Softball Tamed By No. 19 Auburn & Louisiana On Day One Of Jane B. Moore Memorial

AUBURN, Ala. – Rutgers softball dropped 5-0 games to both No. 19 Auburn and Louisiana on the first day of the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament on Friday.

| STATISTICALLY SPEAKING |
- Redshirt sophomore Bailey Briggs and senior Georgia Ingle collected RU's hit.
- Freshman Kelsey Hoekstra got the start going 3.0 innings allowing three runs on seventh hits in dropping to 3-5. Classmate Dezaria Johnson threw three innings, giving up two runs on four hits.

- It was scoreless until the bottom of the third when Louisiana got onto the scoreboard behind five hits and a miscue. Falterman drove in a run with a double up the middle and later stole home to put the Ragin' Cajuns up 2-0. With a runner on third, Laney Credeur brought home against run with a single to right.
- Louisiana added two runs in the fifth off an Emily Smith home run over the wall in left-center.

| STATISTICALLY SPEAKING |
- The Scarlet Knights had three hits off the bats of graduate student LA Matthews, redshirt sophomore Bailey Briggs and freshman Jayden Hutchison.
- Freshman Ella Harrison fell to 4-6 on the year. The right-hander threw 4.0 innings, giving up four hits in the loss. Senior Georgia Ingle closed out the final two innings, allowing only one hit.
| THE RUNDOWN |
- Auburn took a 2-0 lead in their first plate appearance. The Tigers opened with a pair of walks. While Icess Tresvik was caught in a pickle between first and second, the ball was thrown over first base allowing Auburn leadoff Neila Peralta to score. Tresvik later scored on a wild pitch.
- While the Auburn reached on a pair of errors in the second, the Scarlet Knights were able to catch the Tigers with their tails between their legs in trying to steal. Rose Roach singled to left and advanced on a misplay. After Georgia Lessman took over running duties, she attempted to take third, as Gaelen Kelly recovered the ball that got by her to shoot the ball over to Addie Osborne for the out. Abbey Smith came aboard on an infield error, but she was caught trying to steal as Kelly connected with Kelsey Hoekstra for the out.
- Rutgers got back-to-back hits in the third from LA Matthews and Jayden Hutchinson with two outs, but would not make it onto the scoreboard.
- The Tigers put runners on with a walk and single up the middle setting up Anna Wohlers for a three-run shot to left and a 5-0 edge.
