PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers field hockey has unveiled its schedule for the upcoming season. The Scarlet Knights will play a 17-game slate beginning in late August.
"I think our schedule this season challenges us in just the right way," head coach
Meredith Civico said. "Of course, our Big Ten games are always competitive, but by playing the best of other conferences, whether that's Virginia and Syracuse from the ACC, UConn (Big East Champions) or Vermont (America East Champions), we will be constantly testing ourselves. I believe we can compete with anyone in the country and I'm excited to see the team do that."
After playing a pair of exhibition games against Villanova and Drexel, RU opens the season at home against Wagner. The Scarlet Knights are then away from home for the next five games. After visiting Vermont, RU takes a trip to Columbus, Ohio for a weekend of competition against a pair of ACC foes in Syracuse and Virginia. The following weekend sees road games at UConn and Princeton. Rutgers then returns home to close out non-conference play by hosting New Hampshire, Monmouth and Columbia.
Rutgers will embark on its usual eight-game conference slate, with four Big Ten home games and four league matchups on the road. RU opens league play at home against Ohio State. That precedes a three-game road swing to Michigan State, Michigan and Indiana. The Scarlet Knights follow that up with a three-game home stretch, hosting Northwestern, Iowa and Maryland. The regular season finishes on Halloween at Penn State.
The Scarlet Knights have won 51 games over the past four seasons. That includes last season, with four ranked wins, three of them top-10 wins. The Scarlet Knights boast 17 ranked wins in the past five seasons and 41 ranked wins since 2018, which includes 16 top-10 wins since 2021.Â
