RU Alumn to Compete for National Team in Germany from August 9 to 17. Track Her At the Event Below
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers field hockey alumn Katie Larmour was named as a member of the Team Ireland squad for the upcoming European Championships. Larmour recently made her debut for Team Ireland and earned her first international cap by playing for the Irish squad against Team USA In a matchup in Charlotte in early June, and was named to the squad for this event, being one of 18 women selected to compete at the event in Monchengladbach, Germany.
The opportunity to compete at the international stage for Larmour will begin this Saturday. Fans can use this page to track her competition and progress at the EuroHockey event, with stats, stream, photos and social media posts below.
The Championships will be held in Germany from August 9 to August 17. Ireland is set to open the competition with three matches in Pool A, starting with a game against the world's number one ranked team, The Netherlands, on Saturday the 9th, then is slated to face France (Monday, August 11) and the host German squad on Wednesday, August 13. Ireland is one of eight teams overall set for the competition, joining Belgium, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Scotland and Spain. Larmour played at Rutgers from 2016 to 2021. Over that time, she was a fixture in the team's midfield, playing in 86 games (83 of them starts) and scoring 17 goals with 18 assists for 52 points, including six game-winning goals. She ranks in the top-15 in program history in both assists and points.
Larmour was Rutgers' Headley-Singer Award winner in 2022. She was a two-time All-American, reaching First Team in 2021, a four-time All-Region selection (three times on the First Team) and a three-time First Team All-Big Ten selection. In 2019, she was a member of the Big Ten All-Tournament team, and in 2021, she was a key piece in leading RU to the Big Ten Tournament championship. She was also a First Team All-ECAC selection, multi-time Werblin Award winner and a team captain.
Academically, she was a three-time Distinguished Scholar, three-time Academic All-Big Ten, a NFHCA National Scholar-Athlete and Scholar of Distinction, and winner of the Athletic Director's Excellence Award in 2021
"I am so incredibly proud of Katie," Rutgers head coach Meredith Civico said. "She has been such an integral part of the Rutgers Field Hockey program's journey. A three-year captain, she led us to the University's first Big Ten Tournament championship in 2021. She is a wonderful leader and a fantastic person."
