PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer cruised to a 2-0 shutout victory over Indiana on Sunday afternoon at Yurcak Field.
Nata Ramirez and
Ashley Baran both found the back of the net for the Scarlet Knights (3-1-4, 1-1-1), while
Olivia Bodmer made four saves and recorded her fourth shutout of the season to take down the Hoosiers (3-4-2, 0-2-1).Â
With the victory, head coach
Mike O'Neill earned his 150th career victory – all patrolling the touchline for Rutgers.Â
The Scarlet Knights dominated from opening touch – outshooting Indiana 13-3 in the opening half. Ramirez scored the opener in the 21st minute off a cross from
Kennedi Cotter to give RU the early advantage.Â
While Rutgers was unable to add another in the half, Baran doubled the lead just three minutes into the second half. Cotter took a set piece and found Baran in the inside of the box, who touched it to herself and volleyed it in for her second goal of the season.Â
The RU defense posted its fifth shutout of the season – led by four saves from Bodmer including three in the second half.Â
Rutgers returns to action with a west coast road swing at No. 4 UCLA on Thursday night and at USC on Sunday afternoon, with both matches set to be broadcast nationally on the Big Ten Network.Â
