PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers field hockey assistant coach Phil Edwards was bestowed with the 2025 President's Service Award by the NFHCA. The accolade was given for recognizing extraordinary service and leadership to the collegiate coaching community for his work on the NFHCA Video Exchange and Technology Committee.
Edwards was one of nine members of the committee who worked throughout the year to provide guidance and communication, representing the collective voice of collegiate coaches while advancing solutions that supported technological changes and challenges. Through its advocacy and leadership, the committee strengthened trust, elevated coach concerns, and exemplified the values of service and professionalism.
Edwards was recognized with the accolade at the NFHCA Coaches Appreciation & Awards Lunch held during the annual NFHCA Convention this past week in Florida. The luncheon is designed to recognize the dedication, leadership, and lasting impact of coaches who shape the sport at every level.
Edwards initially joined the Rutgers field hockey staff in May of 2022 as its Technical Director. He recently completed his fourth season on the staff. During the past four seasons, Rutgers has won 41 games, including 17 regular seasons Big Ten contests, and qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2023 after winning 16 games, the second most in program history.
