Lawson Leads Cross Country at Nuttycombe Invitational

MADISON, WIS. ā Rutgers cross country, led by senior Micah Lawson, concluded the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, Oct. 9 at the Zimmer Championship Course on the Wisconsin campus.
"It was great to come out and run ont he course to get a fel for what to expect at Big Ten Championships," said Nicol Starkes, associate head coach. "The Big Ten meet hasn't been here in a couple of years so a lot of the team got the opportunity to see the course for the first time. We're looking forward to one final tune-up at Princeton before coming back out to Wisconsin in three weeks."

Lawson who paced the Scarlet Knights in their previous race at the Paul Short Run, led the men's squad again with a top-15 finish on Friday. He placed 14th overall in a field of more than 120 runners, clocking a time of 24:11.1 on the 8k course. Gavin Rossi followed with a 21st-place finish in a time of 24:17.7. The remainder of the pack included Maan Patel (24:57.3 / 64th), Stephen Kyvelos (25:18.3 / 85th) and Hisham Ettayebi (25:18.4 / 86th).

On the women's side, Lorena David led Rutgers for the third time this season. She posted a time of 21:39.6 on the 6k course to place 34th overall. David was followed by Kelseigh O'Neil, who placed 40th with a time of 21:43.4 and Molly Domurat in 47th in 21:49.5. Rounding out the group was Maeli Gleason (22:08.6 / 62nd) and Sofia Condron (22:11.9 / 64th).

The Scarlet Knights will compete in a final tune-up race before returning to Wisconsin for the Big Ten Championships. Rutgers will travel in-state for the Princeton Classic on Friday, Oct. 16. The women's race is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. followed by the men's race at 5 p.m.
