RU Plays in Big Apple Tournament and Has Three Road Contests
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers field hockey is readying its offseason training and preparations as the Scarlet Knights continue to work and build towards the 2026 campaign. RU looks to continue building its team strength throughout this semester as the Scarlet Knights have unveiled a competitive offseason schedule for the spring.
The Scarlet Knights will kick off their spring slate at the Big Apple Tournament, held February 28 and March 1 in Pottstown, Pa. This tournament will provide a valuable opportunity for the team to test its skills against top competition early in the offseason. An annual event for the Scarlet Knights, RU had a strong showing at this event last season, as the team's Scarlet Team entry took first place and RU Goalkeeper Emily Nicholls was named the MVP of the Collegiate Division. RU has had at least one team medal in the past six times they have competed.
Following the Big Apple Tournament, RU will compete against three colleges in road games in the month of April. The Scarlet Knights play at Lafayette on Friday, April 10, Monmouth on Saturday, April 18 and Princeton on Friday, April 24.
Rutgers recorded nine wins in the 2025 season, four of them in Big Ten play and were nationally ranked in the top-20 throughout the campaign and finished with an RPI of 19. It marked the 11th time in 14 seasons under head coach Meredith Civico that RU won at least nine games, the ninth time with a .500 or better record, and the third straight season along with seventh time in the past eight years RU won at least four Big Ten regular season games. Civico now holds a 144-113 career record with 43 career Big Ten wins.
