Varsity 8 To Race In Petite Final & Second Varsity 8 To Compete In C Final
GAINESVILLE, Ga. ā Rutgers' Varsity 4 is returning to the grand final of the NCAA Championships to vie for an NCAA title.
After racing heats on Friday morning, it was a quick turnaround, as impending inclement weather led to semifinal racing in the afternoon.
In addition to the Scarlet Knights' Varsity 4 in the grand final, RU's Varsity 8 will race in the petite final and the Second Varsity 8 will row in the C final on the final day of NCAA competition on Sunday.

The Varsity 4 is heading back to the grand final after a third-place finish in its A/B semifinal. Texas was in front by just over two seconds, finishing in 6:52.913, as Rutgers and Washington headed into the finish line neck and neck. The Scarlet Knights crossed in 6:55.207 and were edged by their Big Ten counterpart in a photo finish by a mere .256 seconds. Ā RU was solidly third to qualify for the grand final, finishing ahead of #9 Brown by 7.4 seconds and also came in front of #5 Princeton and #7 Yale.
Joining Rutgers in the Varsity 4 grand final will be #1 Tennessee, #2 Stanford, #3 Texas, #4 Washington and #6 Virginia at 8:12 a.m. on Sunday.Ā Last season, the Scarlet Knights placed fifth in the event for RU's highest-ever finish at the championships.Ā

The Varsity 8 finished sixth in its A/B semifinal to advance to the petite final for the second straight season. Rutgers' A/B semifinal heat featured the Scarlet Knights meeting up with five other members of the Top 10, including top-ranked Tennessee, with only a 1.5-second margin between first, second and third.Ā
The Scarlet Knights will join #4 Washington, #8 Cal, #9 Brown, #11 Syracuse and #14 Ohio State in the petite final set for 10:12 a.m. on Sunday
The Second Varsity 8 advanced to the C final with a commanding lead in its semifinal heat. Rutgers held a 4.8-second edge at the halfway mark and took an open water win 9.468 seconds ahead of runner-up Ohio State.

RU will line up with #14 Ohio State, #17 Columbia, UCF and Northeastern at the C final start line set for 8:48 a.m. on Sunday.
