A Garden State product who competed against the Scarlet Knights on the Madison Square Garden hardwood, Bryan Dougher is in his third season at Rutgers as Director of Basketball Operations. One of six staff members to serve as a collegiate team captain, he is in his ninth season working under Steve Pikiell as either a student-athlete or staff member.
In his current role, Dougher assists in a range of duties related to the coordination and administration of the program. He is responsible for film breakdown and analysis, opponent scouting, facility management, practice planning, and ticketing among other day-to-day responsibilities within the program. In addition, he serves as Camp Director for the Steve Pikiell Basketball Camps.
The second all-time leading scorer in Stony Brook’s Division I history behind NBA Draft choice Jameel Warney, Dougher spent the 2014-16 seasons as the school’s Director of Basketball Operations. He was responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including team travel, scheduling practices, official visits and recruiting records, fundraising initiatives, alumni events, ticket requests, housing, financial aid, video needs, operating budgets, equipment purchases and disbursement, camps and clinics, and student-athlete academics.
A Scotch Plains, N.J. native, Dougher was a four-year starter and two-time team MVP at point guard for Stony Brook from 2008-12. He developed into one of the best players in program history en route to 1,609 career points. In 126 games, Dougher averaged 12.8 points, shot 37.4 percent from three-point range and compiled 234 assists with 125 steals. A first-team All-America East Conference pick as a senior, he earned second team all-league honors as both a junior and sophomore after being named all-rookie as a freshman.
Dougher led Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School to its only boys’ state basketball title in 2008. The Raiders all-time leading scorer, he had his jersey retired by the Union County school in 2014.
Dougher earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Stony Brook in 2012, before two successful professional seasons abroad in the Australian Basketball Association.
