Director of Basketball Operations

Corky McMullen is in his first season as director of basketball operations and sixth year of service to the program. He was the program’s director of player services in 2014-15 after working four seasons as the coordinator of basketball operations/video.

In addition to assisting with day-to-day activities of the coaching staff, McMullen is responsible for scheduling team travel, practices, meals, facility use, and overseeing compliance matters along with playing a major role in the team’s on-campus recruiting efforts. He is also in charge of the program’s community and alumni relations efforts, as well as being director of the Eddie Jordan Basketball Academy.

As director of player services, McMullen was responsible for a variety of player-related matters. He managed personal and team peer exercises, student-athlete mentoring programs on and off campus, assisted with the coordination and monitoring of individual player’s complete schedules, and assisted in all basketball-related campus events.

McMullen arrived “On the Banks” after spending two seasons a graduate assistant at Hofstra University under head coach Tom Pecora. With the Pride, he worked in all facets of the program, including game and practice preparation, on-court instruction, individual improvement, scouting reports, film exchange, video editing and academic support. In 2009-10, HU posted a 19-15 record and competed in the College Basketball Invitational postseason tournament. In 2008-09, the team had a 20-11 overall mark.

A native of Castile, N.Y., McMullen first ventured into the collegiate coaching ranks at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he worked as an assistant coach in 2007-08. He has also worked at numerous basketball camps sponsored by notable coaches. Among the hardwood mentors he worked with on the summer circuit are Tubby Smith, Stan Heath, Larry Eustachy, Sidney Lowe, Terry Dunn and Pecora.

McMullen was a team captain and three-year letterwinner at guard under head coach Brad Zarges at Houghton (N.Y.) College, where he earned a bachelor of art degree in physical education in May, 2007. He played his freshman season at Lock Haven (Pa.) University.

A Ronald McDonald All-Greater Rochester All-Star, McMullen played his high school ball under his father Tim at Letchworth Central School in Gainesville, N.Y. His father coached both basketball and football at the school for 32 years, and is now in his third season on the men’s basketball coaching staff at Rochester Institute of Technology. A three-time Livingston County Athletic Association First Team All-Star and two-time Division II Player of the Year, he then prepped a season at Bridgton Academy in Maine.

McMullen, 31, who is presently pursuing a master of science in special education, married the former Ryan Realmuto on September 4, 2010. Ryan, who was a four-time All-Big 12 selection at catcher for Oklahoma State, served as an assistant coach with the Rutgers softball team from 2010-2013. The couple has three children, sons Corky, Beau, and Drew.
