Mike Sasso was hired by Coach Pikiell as the team's Video Coordinator for the 2022-23 season on Aug. 5, 2022. He heads into his seventh season with the program in 2023-24. Sasso completed two seasons as a Graduate Assistant and spent four years as a student manager, serving as head manager in his last year. In his role, Sasso works with the coaching and support staff in all aspects of the program. Among his duties are to assist with film breakdown, opponent scouting, practice execution and other administrative tasks.
Sasso has worked behind the scenes, playing an integral role in helping the Scarlet Knights. The Scarlet Knights returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2022, marking the first time RU has made the big dance in consecutive seasons since 1975-1976.
The '20-21 Rutgers team will go down in the record books as the first team since '90-91 to clinch an NCAA tournament birth berth the first team since 82-83’ to reach the Round of 32 after defeating Clemson.
Sasso earned his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in 2020, earning a Bachelor’s in Sports Management with a minor in Business Administration. He finished with a GPA of 3.52 to earn Dean’s List recognition, earning a graduate degree in the Global Sports Business program.
Sasso has experience working multiple college basketball camps, learning from multiple top-tier Division I coaches. Sasso also worked as an intramural sports supervisor for Rutgers Intramural Sports.
A native of Randolph, N.J., Sasso was a team captain on the Randolph High School varsity basketball team and a National Honor Society member.
