Mike Greengarten currently serves as the Director of Development for Major Gifts with the R Fund/Rutgers Athletic Development and manages R Fund members at the major gift level of $25,000 and above. He first joined the R Fund in February 2019 as Assistant Director of Development for Communications and Engagement and later served as Associate Director of Development for Major Gifts.
Prior to joining the R Fund, Greengarten served as the Director of Marketing and Fan Experience with Rutgers Athletics until 2019, previously spending two years as the Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions. In those roles, he was the marketing point of contact for the men’s basketball, field hockey, rowing, women’s golf and tennis programs. He developed marketing plans for home football games, coordinated on-field football productions and devised promotional calendars for the home basketball schedule, including giveaways and halftime performances. Greengarten also oversaw the marketing internship program, where he interviewed, hired and trained more than 20 interns each semester.
Before to joining the Rutgers Athletics marketing Department, Greengarten spent one year with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as an Administrative Compliance Fellow.
A 2014 graduate of Rutgers, he earned his master's degree in Global Sports Business in 2018, also from Rutgers. As an undergraduate, Greengarten served the athletic department in a variety of roles, including Branding and Social Media intern, Ticket Operations Assistant and Football Operations Assistant. He also completed internships with Princeton Tigers men’s basketball, Bates College, Rockland Boulders and IMG (now Scarlet Knight Enterprises).
Greengarten also spent one undergraduate year at Thomas College, where he played Division III soccer. A Hillsdale, N.J., native and graduate of Pascack Valley High School, he is the son of Jay Greengarten and Bonnie McHugh and the stepson of former Athletic Director Kevin McHugh, who served at TCNJ, Bates and Stockton University. Greengarten is married to Danielle Greengarten (Kozlosky).
