In the loss, junior Shayla Bush (Spokane, WA) recorded 27 digs and 22 kills to post her 11th double-double of the season. Junior transfer Sandra Nunner (Muenster, Germany) enjoyed her best match as a Scarlet Knight, totaling a career-high 23 kills at a hitting percentage of .333. Senior co-captain Pualani Tuyay (San Diego, CA) also notched a career-high in the contest, with 20 digs, surpassing her previous best of 16. Tuyay added 55 assists and eight kills in the match. Sophomore Stephanie Travioli (Arlington, TX) earned her first double-double of the season, with 10 kills and 10 digs.
Virginia Tech was led by Ana Lang’s 24 kills and 27 digs, while Melissa Markowski had 70 assists and 22 digs.
Rutgers will try to gain its first conference win of the season on Friday, Oct. 18, at home against Seton Hall. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
