Rutgers Swept by Notre Dame in BIG EAST Opener

PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers women’s volleyball
team was defeated by Notre Dame today, 3-0 (30-16, 30-24, 30-19) at the College
Avenue Gym in the BIG EAST opener for the Scarlet Knights. Rutgers falls to 11-5,
0-1 in the BIG EAST, while the Fighting Irish improve to 12-3, 3-0 in the BIG
EAST.
Rutgers was led by Shayla Bush (Spokane, WA), who posted 16 kills and four digs. Senior co-captain Pualani Tuyay (San Diego, CA) had 32 assists and five digs, while Courtney Stout (San Marcos, CA) contributed six kills and four digs.
Notre Dame was led by Emily Loomis, who recorded 13 kills, while Keara Couhglin added a team-best 16 digs.
Rutgers will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 6, with a match against Syracuse at the College Avenue Gym. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
