Rutgers Defeats Campbell, Falls to UNC

The Scarlet Knights held Campbell (2-4) to a .013 hitting percentage, while hitting .312, and out-blocked the Camels, 6-1, to cruise to the victory. Juniors Sandra Nunner (Muenster, Germany) and Shayla Bush (Spokane, WA) and senior Lauren Venarchik (West Chester, PA) led a balanced attack by each posting double-digit kill totals. Nunner and Bush each recorded 11 kills, while Venarchik had 10 and also added four block assists. Senior co-captain Pualani Tuyay (San Diego, CA) contributed 38 assists for the Scarlet Knights.
Against the Tar Heels (11-1), Bush had 10 kills and nine digs, while Venarchik and Nunner each had eight kills. Sophomore Dawn Christjaener (Huntington Beach, CA) tallied eight digs, while Tuyay had 28 assists and three kills. UNC was led by Laura Greene, who had eight kills and 15 digs, while Katie Wright added 11 kills.
Rutgers will return to action on Friday, Sept. 27, when it travels to Boston to take on Northeastern in a 7 p.m. match. The Scarlet Knights will then face Brown on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m.
