Rutgers Defeats Brown 3-1

BOSTON, MA – The Rutgers women's volleyball team, playing
in its 15th straight road match to start the 2002 season, defeated Brown tonight,
3-1 (27-30, 30-21, 30-23 and 30-28). Brown falls to 2-7, while Rutgers improves
to 11-4.
Rutgers was led by Shayla Bush (Spokane, WA), who notched 20 kills for the second night in a row, and 22 digs, while senior co-captain Pualani Tuyay (San Diego, CA) had 51 assists, 16 digs and seven kills. Junior Sandra Nunner (Muenster, Germany) added 16 kills and eight digs, while sophomore Dawn Christjaener (Huntington Beach, CA) contributed 16 digs.
Brown was led by Ceneca Calvert, who tallied 10 kills and 18 digs.
The Scarlet Knights will compete in their home-opener next Saturday, Oct. 5, against Notre Dame at the College Avenue Gym at 2 p.m. They will then host Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m.
