RU Heavyweights Defeat Syracuse to Capture Ten Eyck Cup

“Our varsity had a very strong race today, and it was a big win for us,” Rutgers head coach Steve Wagner said. “It’s nice to get the Ten Eyck Cup.”
The varsity eight posted a time of 6:03.6 to defeat the Orangemen (6:11.5) by two boatlengths. The RU crew consisted of junior Chris Graves (Northfield, NJ) [bow], senior Mark Hayden (Wexford, PA) [2], sophomore Nathan Carter (Springfield, VA) [3], sophomore Colin Jesberger (Chalfont, PA) [4], senior Mike Dori (West Windsor, NJ) [5], sophomore Fred Bidrawn (Mt. Holly, NJ) [6], junior Sam Stitt (McLean, VA) [7], junior Jim Green (Erdenheim, PA) [stroke] and sophomore Ned DelGuercio (Media, PA) [coxswain].
Syracuse won the second varsity (6:19.7) and freshmen (6:24.3) races, defeating RU, which posted times of 6:32.3 and 6:33.5, respectively.
The Scarlet Knights will next be in action Sunday, April 13, when RU travels to Ithaca, NY, to take on Cornell for the Smith Cup.
