Childress Named to Third-Team All-BIG EAST

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Rutgers senior catcher/outfielder Nikki Childress (Roanoke, VA) has been named to the All-BIG EAST Conference Third Team, the conference office has announced.
Childress led Rutgers this season with a .350 batting average, 12 home runs, 29 runs-batted-in, 26 runs scored and a .657 slugging percentage. She ranked third in slugging percentage, tied for fourth in home runs, sixth in batting average and 10th in on-base percentage (.407) in the BIG EAST. Childress, a two-year letterwinner for the Scarlet Knights after transferring from Florida Community College, owns the RU single-season (12, 2004) and career (20) home run records.
This marks Childress’ second consecutive BIG EAST honor. Last year, she was a first-team selection.
Rutgers finished the 2004 season with a 25-29-1 overall record and an 8-12 mark in the BIG EAST.
