Princeton Shuts Out RU Field Hockey 5-0

PRINCETON, NJ - Paige Schmidt scored three goals as the Princeton Tigers defeated the Rutgers University field hockey team, 5-0, on Friday evening, Oct. 28, in Princeton, NJ.
The Tigers opened the scoring in the fourth minute of the game when Lauren Ehrlichman converted a Princeton penalty corner into a goal and a 1-0 Princeton lead. The Tigers extended their lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute when Schmidt scored the first of her three goals on the evening. The Scarlet Knights would allow one more Tiger score before halftime, a Katie Kinzer rebound goal off of save by Rutgers goalie Rosalyn Wentko (Dallas, PA).
With a three-goal lead coming out of the break, the Tigers, and Schmidt in particular, continued to attack the Scarlet Knight defense.
In the 42nd minute, Schmidt received a pass from older sister Hillary and turned it into the fourth Princeton goal of the night. When Schmidt scored her third and final goal of the evening in the 55th minute, the Tigers had a 5-0 lead and a victory.
With the loss, the Scarlet Knights fell to 7-11 on the season with one game to go. The Tigers improved to 8-8 on the year and also have one more game left on their slate.
The Scarlet Knights will play their final game of the season on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 1:00 p.m. at the RU Stadium Complex when they play host to Columbia. The Rutgers field hockey team will be celebrating its Senior Day on Sunday and will pay tribute to its four seniors: Kara Spector (Easton, MD), Heather Graver (Vincentown, NJ), Bobbi Jo Adams (Port Norris, NJ) and Katie Morad (Marlton, NJ).
