Men's Lacrosse Opens Fall Season Oct. 8

PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers men’s lacrosse team will open its fall season with a pair of scrimmages on Saturday, Oct. 8. The Scarlet Knights travel to Bethlehem, PA, to face Lehigh at noon and Villanova at 2:00 p.m.
Along with scrimmages against Lehigh and Villanova, the Scarlet Knights will also take on the English National Team on Monday, Oct. 17, in Piscataway.
Rutgers returns six of its top 10 scorers from a year ago, including junior Chris Doctor (Skaneateles, NY) (nine goals, seven assists), sophomore Nate Sanderson (Orangeville, Ontario) (14 goals) junior Matt Gaines (Abingdon, MD) (five goals, five assists), junior Colin Checcio (Wayne, PA) (six goals, four assists), senior Devon Britts (Scottsville, VA) (six goals, one assist) and senior Austin Rodgers (Towson, MD) (four goals, three assists).
Following its fall season, Rutgers begins the 2006 preseason season with a scrimmage at defending national champion Johns Hopkins on Feb. 11. The regular season opens on Feb. 25 against Butler at the RU Stadium Complex.
