PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers sophomore Amy Lewis (Hainesport, N.J.) and junior Rosalyn Wenkto (Dallas, Pa.) have been named to the BIG EAST Conference Field Hockey Honor Roll, the league announced Monday.
Lewis posted three goals and one assist for the Scarlet Knights last week, as Rutgers went 1-2, including a win over St. Joseph (Sept. 26). In Rutgers' first game of the week, a 2-1 loss to Penn in overtime (Sept. 24), Lewis forced overtime with a goal in the 34th minute off assists from Corinne Bach (Moorestown, N.J.) and Kristen Johnson (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) on a penalty corner.
In the 2-1 win over St. Joseph's on Sept. 26, Lewis scored two goals for Rutgers, including the game-winning goal in the 60th minute. Lewis' first goal came in the opening half as she dribbled into the circle off a penalty corner and slapped the ball into the top right corner for the Scarlet Knights' goal. The game-winner came off a corner with assists again from Bach and Johnson.
The award was Lewis' third on the season as she also earned honor roll accolades on Aug. 28 and Sept. 11.
On Sept. 30, the Scarlet Knights dropped a tough 2-1 game to 15th-ranked Providence. In the seventh minute, Lewis assisted Sarah Dunn (Eaton, N.Y.) on a goal to tie the game, but the Friars came up with another score later in the first half to win the BIG EAST contest.
Wentko tied a career-high against Providence, posting 10 saves for the Scarlet Knights. In the 3-2 win over St. Joe's, Wentko made five saves, including a big save in the second half to secure the Rutgers' lead.
Rutgers will host BIG EAST opponent Georgetown, on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the RU Stadium Complex.
